Acupuncture involves the insertion of thin, sterile needles into specific points on the body, known as acupuncture points. These points are located along energy pathways or "meridians," which, according to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), help regulate the flow of Qi (life energy). Acupuncture is used to balance the body, alleviate pain, reduce inflammation, and promote overall healing. It is commonly applied for pain relief, stress management, Nervous System Regulation, digestive issues, and various chronic conditions.

Cupping

Cupping is a technique that uses suction to improve blood circulation, release muscle tension, and promote healing. During a cupping session, cups made of glass are placed on the skin, creating a vacuum that draws the skin and underlying tissue into the cup. The suction helps with muscle recovery, reducing pain and inflammation, and improving the flow of Qi. Cupping can often leave temporary marks, last for a few days.

Tui Na (Chinese Therapeutic Massage)

Tui Na is a hands-on body treatment that incorporates various massage techniques, acupressure, and manipulation of the body to stimulate the flow of Qi along the meridians. It combines kneading, rolling, pressing, and stretching to improve energy circulation, alleviate pain, and promote healing. It can be used for musculoskeletal problems, joint pain, stress relief, and digestive issues. Tui Na is often integrated with other modalities like acupuncture to enhance therapeutic outcomes.

Gua Sha

Gua Sha involves scraping the skin with a smooth-edged tool (typically made of jade, stone, or ceramic) to promote blood circulation and release toxins. The technique helps relieve pain, reduce inflammation, and improve immune function. It is particularly effective for treating muscle stiffness, chronic pain, respiratory issues, and boosting immunity during the onset of colds or flu. Gua Sha often leaves temporary marks, which are harmless and fade after a few days.

Electronic Stimulation (Electroacupuncture)

In electroacupuncture, small electrical currents are applied to acupuncture needles after they are inserted into the skin. This method is used to enhance the effects of acupuncture, providing stronger stimulation to the acupuncture points. The electrical current is adjustable to suit the patient's tolerance and therapeutic needs. It is commonly used for pain relief, muscle recovery, nerve regeneration, and conditions like sciatica or arthritis.

Moxibustion

Moxibustion is a warming therapy that involves burning moxa, a dried form of the herb mugwort, near or on the skin. The heat produced from moxa stimulates specific acupuncture points to enhance the flow of Qi, improve circulation, and boost immune function. Moxibustion is commonly used for treating cold or deficient conditions, pain management, digestive issues, and to help turn breech babies in pregnancy. There are two primary forms:

  • Direct moxibustion, where moxa is burned directly on the skin (often using a protective barrier)

  • Indirect moxibustion, where moxa is burned close to the skin or over acupuncture needle.

  • Available Mon-Fri at Blissage & Mobile on Special request for weekends.
